Face it. You’re busy. And that’s great! That’s life. But if you want to lead an active healthy lifestyle, a regular massage and/or a body scrub can help you in many ways.
Massage and full-body exfoliation do more than just relax your body and calm your mind, they help keep you body limber and healthy by flushing toxins and improving circulation so you can stay in shape and be ready to do all the things you want to do.
The power of touch goes beyond just making you feel good. Massage is real medicine, and just a few minutes of expertly applied pressure can trigger a cascade of health benefits.

Go on, do it. Your body will thank you.
The Healing Power of Massage
If you have ever been on a massage table for a session, you already know that massages feel good. But how, exactly, can massage help improve your quality of life, general health and athletic performance?
The magic in massage lies in its ability to move your tissue in a way that helps restore your muscle elasticity and promote recovery. The kneading, pulling, and pushing also encourage better blood flow throughout your body and act as a flushing tool to help push waste products back into your circulatory system and out of your muscle thereby helping to alleviate muscle soreness.
The use of essential oils (extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, and roots) in body and skincare treatments is known as aromatherapy. Used as a healing technique for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, essential oils aid in relaxing you, improving your circulation, and helping with the healing of wounds.
At Men’s Grooming Salon we use Aromatherapy Diffusers to fill the massage room with the scent of the oils. Our Aromatherapist blends specific essential oils and adds them to a carrier oil, such as Almond Oil, to be used during the massage. Each oil has its own unique characteristics and benefits.
The use of aromatherapy as a technique was pushed aside as the modern pharmaceutical industry developed and faith in science overtook faith in tradition. However, the French chemist Gattefossé revived the art by coining the term aromatherapy and by publishing a book on the subject in 1928.
People today have rediscovered the therapeutic merits of traditional, holistic massage, and Aromatherapy is, once again, receiving the recognition it deserves.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep-tissue/deep-muscle massage techniques affect the sub-layer of your musculature and fascia. These techniques require advanced training and a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. The patient’s muscles must be relaxed for the therapist to effectively perform deep-tissue massage, otherwise, tight surface muscles can prevent the practitioner from reaching deeper musculature.
Deep tissue massage helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendinitis. It is generally integrated with other massage techniques.
Detoxing Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Detoxing Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Detoxing Lymphatic Drainage Massage, also known as Manual Lymph Drainage Massage, is a very light massage that targets the lymphatic system, located directly beneath the skin, to encourage lymph flow in the body.
The lymph system delivers nutrients to the cells and carries away excess water, cellular waste, bacteria, viruses and toxins. By stimulating this system with light, circular pumping movements, the practitioner helps drain puffy, swollen tissues, supports the body’s immune system, helps the body heal from surgery, and aids in the body’s natural waste removal or detoxification.
Manual Lymph Drainage Massage has also been documented as an aid to reducing scar tissue, spider veins, redness and acne. It can be used as part of a facial, massage, or as a whole-body treatment.
Reflexology treatments are included on all our massages and facials for around 10 minutes.
If you want a full hour to be treated by the best reflexology practitioner in Sydney, please contact Natasha Randall on her mobile 0407 897 939 or via her website.
Remedial or therapeutic massage uses controlled pressure on deep muscle tissue to alleviate pain, increase circulation and facilitate recovery after an injury.
There are many different approaches or styles of remedial massage and experienced massage therapists will vary treatment depending on your goals, your general state of health and the massage therapist’s recommendations.
Massage can work in conjunction with an osteopathic manual and movement therapy regimen after a sports-related injury, accident or lengthy period of bed rest. Athletes often seek sports massage, a specific form of remedial massage that helps keep hard-working muscles in good shape.
Remedial massage can also be part of a greater wellness program focussed on overall health.
Developed in Japan, shiatsu is a finger-pressure technique utilizing traditional acupuncture points. Similar to acupressure, shiatsu concentrates on unblocking the flow of life energy and restoring balance in the meridians and organs to promote self-healing.
With the client reclining, the practitioner applies pressure with the finger, thumb, palm, elbow, or knee to specific zones on the skin located along the energy meridians. The treatment brings about a sense of relaxation while stimulating blood and lymphatic flow.
The benefits of shiatsu may include pain relief and a strengthening of the body’s resistance to disease and disorder.
One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body.
In Swedish massage, the disrobed client is covered by a sheet, with only the area being worked on exposed. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrating, percussive, and tapping movements, while applying oil, to reduce friction on the skin.
The many benefits of Swedish massage include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury. $120
